As for the problem: I'd been having problems with the Origin client crashing and not being able to open, so I did a complete uninstall (including cleaning my registry, which I did save a backup for) and a clean install of the client. However, Originthinsetup isn't working, even when run as administrator. It appears in my processes, but it never does anything.
To combat this, I made sure it was allowed in my firewall, cleaned my registry once more with ccleaner, and disabled any antivirus programs that could be hindering it, and it still didn't work. So from here onward, I did a clean boot of my pc using msconfig, and tried to reinstall origin once more.
It still won't install despite all these steps, and I'm honestly stumped. Help!
