Origin.exe generating excessive # of disk access events

★★★ Apprentice

Using Process Monitor to figure out why my DPC latency would noticeably drop after exiting Origin, I noticed the client (Origin.exe) generates a very high amount of events per minute, around 22,000 in my case!

The client seems to repeatedly create/access some settings in XML files even when no settings have changed or no user interaction has occurred.

Pls see attached file that can be opened with Process Monitor.

This is extremely excessive and can cause performance problems including stutter during gaming and even disk wear and tear problems in the long run. Please see if this can be minimized.

Thanks,

HC

The Origin client is constantly, unnecessarily performing disk read/writes and thus wearing out our disks.

Can this please get forwarded to the devs so that they can do something about this?

Thanks.

Yeah, its insane the amount of writes they are doing.

Nice explanation here at page 2: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Origin-Client-Web-Technical/Origin-constantly-reading-hard-drive/td-p/8746...

Now its a matter of EA paying attention to this, if ever.

Origin.exe is still hammering Windows / system with a very high number of events per minute.

This causes performance issues and can cause stutter during gaming.
