Hi,
Origin client has two major bugs:
1. If running, it prevents randomly new shortcuts icons to get their real icon:
Instead of the icon inside the .exe file the shorcut is pointing at, you get a blank page new document generic icon.
And you need to clean windows icon cache to restore the original icon, using these commands:
Reg Delete "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\User Choice" /f
Del /F /Q /A %LOCALAPPDATA%\IconCache.db
Del /F /Q /A %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer\*.db
Del /F /Q /A "%UserProfile%\Local Settings\Application Data\IconCache.db"
DIY HOTFIX (not really professional hotfix): quit origin client when you are creating shortcuts or installing software.
2. Origin client is the only program that does not gently comply to windows software system shutdown (windows alerts on this fact and proposes to force origin client termination or to wait until it closes by iteself.
