I had tried clearing the cache first which I thought I had put in my original little rant, my apologies lol.

Doing the clean boot thing has done the trick though and I am happy to report that I am finally back up and running. Thank you massively, I'm rather obsessive about my sims and I have the week off work so I planned on taking full advantage so I was in a little bit of a panic. You're my hero, lol.

@Straatford87 I think I just fixed it. I was sceptical initially to reinstall origin as it might ruin all my installed games, but I just blindly dared to reinstall and more it's working fine.

For your own information: reinstalling Origin will not make any changes to your Origin Games folder - only to the Origin folder will be reset.

Glad to hear that you got it sorted in the meantime..
