Origin Stuck At Finalizing (May have a fix)

★★ Novice

Hey guys, I've noticed recently that Origin seems to be stuck at finalizing when downloading games like KoTOR and KoTOR II. So the "fix" I found was to force close Origin with task manager and then run the program as administrator. For me, this glitch seems to happen whenever Origin doesn't fully download a game, so by doing this process, it downloads the parts that it missed. Sometimes however, I had to repeat the process multiple times to get it to work.

Great to hear that you found a fix for the issue @Sunshinemudcrab and thanks for sharing the fix with us.

If a download or install is getting stuck then you need to also ensure that your firewall and anti-virus are not blocking Origin and that you also have the ports for Origin open.

The ports to open are:

  • TCP: 80; 443; 9960-9969; 1024-1124; 3216; 18000; 18120; 18060; 27900; 28910; 29900
  • UDP: 1024-1124; 18000; 29900

You can also try turning off the routers firewall to see if it helps.

Origin has to be programmed by complete idiots, no other app I use runs like this.. I was wondering if I was alone in this issue..

@EA_Darko Why on earth would anyone turn off a firewall? With so many hackers and other crap out there... That is poor advice.

Hey @Numba5isAlive turning it off is simply to test and see if it could be blocking Origin. If Origin works when it is turned off then you can simply create an exception for Origin and your games.

Star wars kotor stuck at finalizing

★★ Novice

I have problem where i downloaded star wars kotor and then it started finalizing but it never ends. I also searched other articles about this and i have done everything that was there and it did not help. I am very dissapointed that people like me (who deosnt undstand this type of things at all) or other people has to solve problems instead of the developers. If you got any advice I would be very grateful to read it. (sorry for my english)

No. End task in task manager is just forcing me to restart the entire download from the beginning with nothing changed to ensure that it actually works this time. 3 hours of waiting completely wasted.

This is ridiculous. The app gives absolute no control or option for pausing/cancelling and can't even resume a download that was supposedly 100% done?

Sorry to hear that you are having issues @NinjaTweak.

The best thing to do is to take a couple of minutes and try the following steps:

  • Ensure that you are running Origin as Administrator
  • Firewalls and Internet Security Software: Make sure that you’ve added the Origin client as an exception to any Firewalls or other Internet Security Software, like Ad-Block, you may have running so that your connection to our servers isn’t blocked.
  • Your software may even have some Internet ports blocked. If so, the following are used by the Origin client and must be open for a smooth connection:
    • TCP: 80; 443; 9960-9969; 1024-1124; 3216; 18000; 18120; 18060; 27900; 28910; 29900
    • UDP: 1024-1124; 18000; 2990
