This is what worked for me, Origin needs to be installed on the game library disk.
@burnpluto wrote:For the people who still struggle, this worked for me:
-install Origin on the same disk as where you have all your games-move the games to the default location
-click on dowload, it will say 'preparing'
-now close origin
-restart Origin and it will now control the game files and your done
You are the real MVP my dude. You don't know how much time I've spent on this BS
....and just to play Anthem lol

The fact this is still a problem really does show EA's "commitment" to PC gaming.
It's 2021, we're in lockdown so people can't exactly do anything, and yet they STILL haven't dedicated time to fixing this.
You know, transferring steam was 10x easier than this mess?
It's lucky I'm on 1Gbps internet or this would have bothered me....but glad you all found a fix.

This sucks because what happens when you have more games than drive space. I have a bunch of different Origin games on different drives, and it makes this * so * hard its stupid. Origin doesn't work half the time, and I just updated to Windows 11 Preview and Origin wont "Locate Games" anymore so now even though I have all the files on my PC and point the program to their directory I have to re-download everything and then hope that there is program stability. This is after Compatibility mode and Administrator privileges. This is ridiculous freeware operates better than this *.
If this is what we are to expect from EA no wonder their games are infested with cheaters.
