New PC - Origin won't recognize I've already installed BF4 on my second hard drive?

★★★ Newbie

Hi! I just built a new PC, and I have all my games installed on a HDD from my old PC...including BF4. Origin is installed on my new C: drive, which is my main drive. I would like to get Origin to recognize I have BF4 installed so I don't have to delete it and entirely redownload it again as my internet is extremely slow and BF4 took like 3 days to download! How can I do this? Thanks!

To uninstall right click the game in Origin and choose "uninstall"
or use "programs" in your Windows control panel.

Normally you would have to download it but there is a shortcut.
Copy the entire BF4 game folder to another location then deinstall the game.
Download the game again in Origin and when it starts downloding pause it.
Exit Origin and copy the game folder back.

Start Origin and the download.

It should finish "downloading" fast and start installing.

This saves alot of time
especially on low internet speeds.

the BF4 game folder is normally located in:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\

The game settings are saved in:
"your Documents"\Battlefield 4

The game may need to be reinstalled. The registry for windows will be missing registry keys from the game becasue the registry is on the C drive and i'm sure you formatted C when you reinstalled

Seriously? That is SO counter-intutivie. Why can't you do what Steam does? Steam ALWAYS recognizes games in the library regardless whether there is a new installation of windows.

Shouldnt need a 'solution' like this. What a needless load of hassle just to get Origin to recognise it's own games. Get with the times and be more like steam.
