My PC won't allow me to access Origin

So I took a few months off of my PC since I'm mainly a console player but just yesterday I tried to play Sims 4 again but the Origins Launcher won't boot up, I get a pop up telling me:  This Application failed to start because it could not find or load the Qt platform plugin " windows" in " C:/Program Files (x86)/Origin.

How can I fix this problem?

Hey @realman2000,

That error typically pops up if some other program is making use of that particular file and Origin isn't able to load it properly as a result. 

I'd start by clearing the Origin cache to see if that allows you to load the launcher afterwards: https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/faq/clear-cache-to-fix-problems-with-your-games/ 

If that's not doing the trick alone, you may need to try uninstalling Origin and reinstalling from scratch as well: https://help.ea.com/en/help/origin/origin/manually-uninstalling-origin/
