I'm having this issue. I'm the only admin/user on this computer and even tried changing my password for the computer to see if that would help.

Did I run the troubleshooting thing right? And upload it right? I'm not good at this technical stuff.

I'm Mac OS X El Capitan version 11.10.3

@taxdollarsPlease try this:
Open the Terminal. Either via Spotlight search, or from /Applications/Utilities/Terminal
In the terminal Window, try following:
ls -l /Library/PrivilegedHelperTools
This will list the contents of the folder PrivilegedHelperTools
then try:
sudo touch /Library/PrivilegedHelperTools/test
This will ask for your password and then create an empty file called “test” in the mentioned path (provided you have sufficient permissions)
then you can remove it again via:
sudo /Library/PrivilegedHelperTools/test

I’m curious if you are able to read the contents of the folder and if you are able to write in there. It may be just a permission issue for the installer.

@hvisegvsdkhfg  Thanks for the assist! I might have done it wrong, it never asked for my password. Attached is a screenshot of what doing what you suggested resulted in.

@taxdollars I’ve made a typo in the last command. It should have been:
sudo rm /Library/PrivilegedHelperTools/test
You can execute it like that to remove the empty “test” file you’ve created with the command before.

But nevertheless, it’s strange that it’s not asking for the password. Have you tried these commands multiple times? (The “ls -l” command shows, that the “test” file was already created). Normally, the sudo command should prompt you for the password for the first time. After that, you have a short timeframe when you’re not asked for the password again. So this may be the case. But if it never asked for the password, this may be a different situation.

Please try the following command in the terminal:
sudo -l
(that’s small L, not big i)

You can also try:
sudo grep -i nopasswd /etc/sudoers

Please let me know what were the results of these commands.

Re: [Mac] Permission to install Helper Tool error - 2018

@floorvwijk  I've merged your post into the master thread for this issue.  Thanks for running the script; I'm sure the information will be helpful to EA.

Just to check, you're trying to use your computer's password to grant permission for the helper tool, right?  Your Origin password won't work.

Anyway, this thread will be updated if and when there's any news about the issue.

I don't work for EA. I'm just trying to help fellow players with their games.
