[Mac] Origin - Connection and Library Issues

[ Edited ]
EA DICE Team

We're investigating reports of Origin being unable to connect or load the game library on Mac

If you have either of these problems we'll check it out via your log files.

The logs are in the following folder: ~/Library/Application Support/Origin/Logs/. The ~ is the home directory.

Here's how you gather logs:

  1. Hit Cmd+Shift+G in the Finder and enter ~/Library/
  2. Navigate to Application Support/Origin/Logs to find the Origin logs
  3. Attach the files in the Logs folder to this thread

For Origin Installation Logs

  1. Go to the installation folder of the game they are trying to install
  2. Select the __Installer folder
  3. Attach the file InstallLog to this thread

Please attach your logs to this thread to help us investigate.

Thanks!

@shoongalloway Legacy version for the Origin Client will fix the issue.
https://www.dm.origin.com/mac/download/legacy

Please make sure you uncheck the auto update for Origin client and Games while you are installing the Legacy version of the Origin client.

@willsjane @crownedjester09 @SleazyLucky and @RobinSimmer  As you're all experiencing some form of this issue, EA would love to be able to read your Origin logs.  EA_Tom has provided instructions for gathering them in the above post; you can attach them directly to a post.

It would be a great help if you could provide the logs.  This thread will be updated with any news as well.

I don't work for EA. I'm just trying to help fellow players with their games.

I'm pretty sure my problems match the criteria, I use Origin for a Macbook OS X Yosemite (I'm unable to upgrade to High Sierra, or even El Captain as I don't have the means to purchase an external hard drive to back up my computer to Time Machine) and I'd just like an EA worker to hear my concerns and possibly respond to them. Sims 4 has been running smoothly and opening easily through the Origin client until I purchased the "Vampires Game Pack" last night. It didn't download instantly, as when I opened Sims the game pack icon was still grey. But it was in the purchase history and on the Origin website it said I did indeed own the Vampires pack. In the Origin client it said I needed the base game to use the pack, but the base game was in my library. I tried to repair and update my Sims 4 game, I uninstalled and reinstalled Origin using the easy and hard way, but then my game library had nothing in it. I hate to sound so needy but I was really looking forward to playing something I spent 20 dollars for.
