Japanese input is not available in chat with friends

The Origin client can not switch from English input to Japanese input, and can not chat in Japanese without copying and pasting characters entered in another application (Example: notepad).

Are you able to type by changing the language on the keyboard per Windows?

@EA_Blueberry Yes, English input mode and Microsoft IME English mode are possible. (Microsoft IME has Japanese input mode disabled and is forced to enter English input mode.)

Are you able to alt-tab out of the game while it's running and switch it?

Yes, I can not input directly from the Origin client without launching the game.

if you switch to Japanese and type shirt+caps, alt+caps, or ctrl+caps in-game you can type in Japanese. Whichever one you press changes what characters you use though.
