It's showing up in My Game Library, but I'm unable to play it. I'm a newbie, so maybe I'm missing something super obvious, but I don't know what to do. There's no "play" button and clicking on the icon does nothing. Do I have to sign up/pay for a basic membership package first? I only signed up because this was supposed to be free

If you tried downloading or did download the game on the 28th of May after 12:00:01 am that is when the game went from free to get/own to buy from the store. If this is a true statement, then you now must purchase the game. I am sorry if you did miss the deadline. Best to you.

I've downloaded that four times and nothing happens.

@MelanieR92 Just to confirm, you're trying to download Sims 4 through the Origin app, not the website, and that's where clicking on the Sims 4 logo does nothing? Do you see any options listed if you right-click on the icon instead? Are you running Windows or macOS? And please confirm that you're using a computer, not a tablet or other similar device.
You can also try clearing Origin's cache (Windows) or running the Origin reset tool (macOS).
