In-Game Origin Won't Open

Basically I've been trying to take advantage of the %20-%50 off deals on the Sims 4 but every time I add one of the packs to my cart I get the following message:

Origin In Game has been disabled in the Origin Client. To enable Origin In Game, go to Application Settings, click on the Origin In Game menu and select the option to Enable Origin In Game.

Origin In Game is already enabled on both the Application Settings and Game Properties. I've also tried removing all my CC, restarting my computer, re-installing Origin, re-downloading the Sims 4, and re-enabling Origin In Game, and literally nothing has worked. I'm sure this is just a glitch with Origin or something, but I may just be doing something wrong. It also begs the question of when this will go away, if it is a glitch. If someone who is more experienced with Origin could help me out I'd really appreciate it.

For the record, I play on a Mac and all my content is up-to-date, I've also repaired and updated my game multiple times.

These steps passed through my mind  ;

- as a first step you can use Safe Mode, because deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files (besides many others)  https://support.apple.com/en-ie/HT201262
