Hi there,
I am trying to install The Sims 4 on my Windows 10 PC and Origin is telling me I need a new OS, which is an error. I've attached the diagnostic report. Can someone please help me?
Thanks,
Jennifer

@jnieuwla @Mlahita @Regina12787 and @lizztastic Please use these guides to clearing Origin's cache and uninstalling "the hard way" to remove all traces of Origin from your computer.
https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/faq/clear-cache-to-fix-problems-with-your-games/
https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/origin/origin/manually-uninstalling-origin/
Restart your computer, download the full Origin installer, and run it as an admin: right-click on the download and select "Run as administrator." This is a direct download link:
http://download.dm.origin.com/origin/live/OriginSetup.exe
If you get an MSVCP140.dll or VCRUNTIME.dll error, those files are part of the 2015 VC++ runtimes, which Origin needs to install properly. It's best to uninstall your current copies, if you have any, and then download new ones from Microsoft. Hit Windows key-i, select Apps, scroll down to Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable, click on both the x86 and x64 entries (if you have them), and select Uninstall. You can download new copies here. Be sure to install both the x86 and x64 versions.

Restart your computer, and try to install Origin again.

I think I'm having the same problem? I was in the mood to play the sims 4 again for the first time in ages, and I can't install the origin launcher. I believe the .exe file is missing something, as that's the only reason I can come up with. I've tried deleting and re-downloading the launcher, but I ran into the same errors. Hopefully we did run into the same issue, or else I'll feel pretty dumb lol

I am literally having the same exact issue and its bugging me so bad. I paid money for my sims games and I cant even play them on a brand new computer running windows 10.

Your advice worked beautifully!! Thank you so much!! BUT what do I do when it tells me my Sims 4 code has already been redeemed? Is there a way around that? I bought my Sims secondhand off of Ebay.
June 2020
@jnieuwla Unfortunately, there's no way to register a secondhand copy of Sims 4. If the original owner used the code, it can't be added to a different account, even if you can prove you paid for it. In your position, I'd flag the sale to Ebay as fraudulent, since EA's terms of service specifically prohibit reselling codes and state that games can't be transferred from one person to another.
If it helps, the Sims 4 base game is $5 U.S. right now on Origin, or $6 and change for the Digital Deluxe version. Click Buy Now, skip over the prompts to buy Access (it's not necessary) and just get a standalone copy of Sims 4, where it says "not interested" in small print.

I'm having trouble downloaded origin for the first time. i keep getting could not connect to origin services. I'm trying to fix the problem before I request a refund.

@rakena08 Have you installed Origin, or are you still having trouble downloading it in the first place? If it's the latter, try this direct download link to the full installer:
http://download.dm.origin.com/origin/live/OriginSetup.exe
I'm not great with connection issues, but you can try the steps listed here:

If none of them work, it's worth disabling your antivirus, at least long enough to test. And you could also try using Origin in a new admin user account on your computer, again just as a test.
