FIFA 21 Pro Clubs on steam, can I play with my friends who use EA desktop?

I have bought EA play on steam and am trying to play FIFA 21 Pro Clubs with friends who are playing the game on EA Desktop, but since you can only invite people to your club through your friends list we cannot seem to figure out how to play with eachother (my Steam Account is linked to my Origins account). Is it impossible because of the fact that I don't have EA Desktop (I had some troubles with downloading it before and support couldn't find a way to fix it)?
