Do you expect us to D/L a 30 GB Update at 500KB/s in 2019? ARE YOU SERIOUS?

★★★ Newbie

I can easily get 25MB /S in Steam or Uplay. I am SERIOUSLY considering quitting my Battlefield online "career" and giving up on you.

This is SO FRUSTRATING, why won't you fix this?

I have similar wowes with EA and Origin.  Download speeds are horrible!  I have contacted EA several times in the past, and the only option their support could give me was to enable "safe" mode for Origin.(I think that was what the option was but now that I look, I don't even see such an option anymore)  That did increase my download speeds from KB/s to ~5-10MB/s speeds; still not great when I am capable of ~40MB/s.  I get 20+MB/s on most other gaming platforms, but for whatever reason, EA can't get their things in order to actually provide a decent network.

Is there anyone out there who actually gets 15+MB/s consistently from EA servers?

Hey @Slanty1 and @Favascomlinguica, generally if you are seeing slow speeds then this points to a network or ISP issue.

I tested the speeds there and was hitting speeds far in excess of 500kb.

The best thing that I can recommend is that you try the following steps:

Let me know how you get on.

I have zero issues downloading from any other source but EA!  I can pause a download from EA that is getting at best 10MB/s download speeds, and start up steam or battle net and get speeds in excess of 30MB/s download.  EA speeds always start out ok for a few minutes and then just slowly dwindle as the download progresses.  It is 100% an EA server side throttling issue.

Hey @Slanty1 if it was an issue on EA's end then it would be affecting all users. I tested just there and am seeing download speeds of over 20MB/SEC.

Just because another service downloads just fine does not mean that all others will. If the ports for Origin are not open or your ISP is routing your data in an unusual manner then you can see issues with your download speeds.

The ports to open for Origin are:

  • TCP: 80; 443; 9960-9969; 1024-1124; 3216; 18000; 18120; 18060; 27900; 28910; 29900
  • UDP: 1024-1124; 18000; 29900

You can also try turning off the routers firewall to see if it helps.
