Dead Space 3 won't launch

When I try to launch Dead Space 3, the screen goes black like it wants to launch, but after a couple of seconds it exits without any error message.

 

I have tried the following already:

 

Created a settings.txt file under c:\users\appdata\local\ea games\dead space 3\ with settings that I copied off another forum.

Ran the exe as admin and in compatibility mode.

Disabled Origin in Game.

Ran repair in Origin.

Unplugged my second screen.

Deleted Dead Space and Dead Space 2 folders under Documents as per other forum.

 

More info about my setup:

 

Windows 10,

GTX 1080ti,

i5 6600K,

16GB RAM,

The game is installed on a HDD on D:

 

Is there anything else that I should try?

Hi @skaapman101

 

Make sure you don't have any MSI Gaming App, Riva Tuner or something like that installed in your machine. If you have this in your computer, you must uninstall /shutdown them.

 

Clear Origin cache https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/origin/origin/origin-my-games-list-is-blank

 

Delete temp files: open the Start Menu and type %temp%  in the Search field  or click in the Run option in the Start Menu and type %temp% in the Run field.Press Enter and a Temp folder should open. You can delete all files found in this folder, and if any files are in use, they can be skipped.

 

Restart your machine.

 

Perform a Clean Boot https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/FAQ/how-to-clean-boot-your-pc/

 

Run Origin as Adminstrator.

(unnecessary) Logitech Software and / or connected USB-Devices can cause issues as well.

 

Software has to be un-installed and not just closed / taken out of the auto-start-with Windows.

Hi !

I installed dead space 3 and when I launch it, from the origin launcher, first  it sychronizes with the cloud then kinda background launches the game - no display at all - then the game stops immediately ( it shows play button again on the origin launcher)

I actually fixed this problem and decided to post the solution:

  • Change your resolution in Windows to 720p. (which the game tries to launch in)
  • Go in game to Video settings, set it to Windowed mode at 720p.
  • Change your resolution in Windows to what it normally is; 1080p for me.
  • In Video settings, change your resolution to normal. (1920x1080 for me)
  • If you don't want to actually play in Windowed, set it to borderless.

@skaapman101 The solution is a dumb one

Uninstall Dead Space 3

Download Dead Space 3, making sure it's on the OS drive

Wait for it to finish in Origin

Then try opening it

Moving it doesn't work, all these other things don't work , least for me they didn't
