Bought a new laptop with windows 10 and now cant download origin

★★★ Newbie

I have just bought a HP 14 14" Laptop AMD Ryzen 3 2200U 2.5GHz 4GB / 128 SSD Windows 10 laptop and it wont let me download origin. I'm really not great in technology so help would really be appreciated. Like I really need the dumbed down version of what I can do :')

@bezza5  Does your laptop have Windows 10 S?  If so, it won't let you download or install any apps not from the Microsoft store.

You can upgrade to Windows 10 Home for free, if you want:

although you wouldn't be able to switch back without wiping the system.

If this isn't the issue, please post a screenshot of the error you get when you try to download Origin.

Re: Bought a new laptop with windows 10 and now cant download origin

@bishop793  The VCRUNTIME140.dll error, if that's what you're getting, is related to the 2015 VC++ redistributables, which Origin needs to install properly.  It's best to uninstall your current copies, if you have any, and then download new ones from Microsoft.  Hit Windows key-i, select Apps, scroll down to Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable, click on both the x86 and x64 entries (if you have them), and select Uninstall.  You can download new copies here. Be sure to install both the x86 and x64 versions.

Restart your computer, and try to install Origin again.

If that doesn't help, someone else posted about newer AMD software conflicting with Origin here:

There's no harm in trying what's described.

@glas1049  I'm not sure what your issue is—you definitely don't have the issues related to Windows 10 S—but please try the above as well.
