How to setup Steam Controller to work with NFS Rivals?

 Hello,

So i've been trying to get my steam controller to with NFS Rivals by adding it to steam and trying to to map my controller that way, but when i open the game up via Big Picture mode, the game doesnt recognize my controller very well, it shows keyboard hints and i cant seem to get anything working expect A (which is accept/confirm) so what should i do now?
