I can't join races

I have finished the game and now I don't see any race on my map all of them are elite races which I don't want to do another thing my friend keeps onsending me invites to races but I can't join please help

Have you finished the Prestige events in-game?  (Press 'O' - use arrow keys to guide you to the right and highlight Prestige events;  'X' turns them on.)  If this is turned on you will not see some events.  

You cannot invite other players, when in Prestige mode, not sure why you cannot join them.  Maybe it goes both ways.  I don't get a lot of invites so I have not gained a lot of experience with that part of the game.
