When I try to play game, it crashes

Whatever game mode I'm on in nhl 18, it goes to the screen with the team's playing and it just freezes and I can't do anything

Do the game crash completely to the xbox/psn screen or is it just stuck there, also is there and animation, sounds happening in the background? 

What platform do you play on?
