not working ps4 pad with nfs hot persuit

Hi I installed nfs and wanted to play with a pad. when i clicked a button on the pad it says to go in the settings and to sth. When i tried to do it i clicked the button where i want to drive and it said to go to the settings. on steam it says that pads work with this game. Can u help me or return my money
