Got your back mission - cinematic won't play

Figure I'd give this forum a shot as other than having my question in techical issues forum get merged into an older, also unanswered thread, there's been no traction.

I'm playing NFS heat on PC via gamepass and my issue is this "Got your back" mission.

When I get to the point where the cinematic is supposed to play, the game goes into the loading black screen and never does anything else. I always have to Alt-F4 to quit/end task. Has anyone else had this issue and how'd you fix it? I've tried multiple different cars, I've tried sitting at the start to "load" everything, nothing seems to work.

There are some other issues with this mission, such as texture popping in, the 1st place NPC car being invisible, the intro cinematic where you eventually count down to start the race not ever being able to play the full thing... just a mess of a mission, but the biggest issue is the cinematic not playing so I can't progress.

If a mod sees this, please don't simply merge it with the old thread, it's not even asking the same question and regardless, it hasn't been resolved either.
