Sims will not move or perform any actions

★★★ Newbie

I recently downloaded the base game plus some expansion packs. I created a household and moved them into a lot, but as soon as live mode started, none of them would perform any actions. Any command is met with a response saying their path is blocked, even ones that don't require them to go anywhere, like using a phone. I tried creating new save files and new households in different worlds to see if there was any difference, but the problem persists across all of them.

I've tried repairing my game and using the resetsim command as well as enabling cheat mode, but none of these have fixed the problem. I don't have any mods or CC since I just downloaded the game. I'm playing on a Mac, if that matters.

Has this happened to anyone else? I've seen other threads of people saying their Sims would randomly stop following commands during gameplay, but in my case, they are unresponsive from the start.

@syarias Did you try a reset of the game?

Resetting your game is a more thorough way to troubleshoot an issue. It moves in a fresh install and allows you to overwrite certain files necessary to bring back in the ones you played and saved. ‘Cleaning house’ without moving out.

Make a backup first ( Save a copy of your 'The Sims 4' folder in a safe location. It can be found at: Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 )

Resetting your game without reinstalling:

Exit your game and Origin (EA app, etc.).
Move your ‘The Sims 4’ folder ( Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 ) to your desktop. (Save this “The Sims 4” folder for reference.)
Then start the game, and a new ‘The Sims 4’ folder will be created by the game.
Exit your game and Origin (EA app, etc.).
Re-add a copy of the ‘options.ini’, ‘screenshots’ folder, ‘saves’ folder, and ‘tray’ folder from the “The Sims 4” folder on your desktop into your new “The Sims 4” folder ( Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 ). Replace the newly generated files/ folders with the old files/folders from the desktop “The Sims 4” folder.
Now see if your game will load properly.
Start a new game save and see if the issue is still there.
