SIMS 4 (mac) - won't respond

★ Novice

hello! i have looked everywhere for answers before deciding to come here. my game was working just fine a few days ago, no issues with CC or anything. but i recently bought growing together during the sale and ever since then my game keeps saying it wont respond whenever i try to open it. im not saying that- THATS what caused everything, but is it a possibility it got caught with the CC? i have tried the 50/50 method, i've repaired my game, reinstalled, restarted my computer, and nothing seems to fix it. BUT, when i keep script mods in my game (basemental, mcc etc) and remove everything else, it loads the game just fine? i have read that clothes, hairs, jewellery etc wouldnt "cause the game to not load" but i just find it weird because i've never had a problem with it besides when they came out with highschool years haha. i'm dreading getting rid of all of my CC but if theres a way to potentially "avoid" it i'll do anything lol

Hi @rizewifme There's a good chance you have mods or CC that needed updating after Growing Together came out for compatibility with the pack itself. You don't have to get rid of your CC, though! You can do a 50-50 on your CC to find the culprit.

This means organizing the files there into bite-size batches (with any files they require, like XML Injector or a Core Library mod or mesh) and testing one batch at a time. For each test, delete the file called localthumbcache, then put only that batch in Mods. If your game behaves as you expect, set that batch aside as "cleared" and delete localthumbcache again. If it doesn't behave as you expect, take out half the batch and see if you're closer to finding the culprit. Remember to delete localthumbcache each time. You'll find some 50-50 method tutorials online too. Once you isolate the file, you can go find out if there's an updated version.

When you're making batches, start with things like sliders, default overrides, and eyelash-related mods. They're the most likely to have needed updating.

Have you backed up your Saves? Checked for broken and updated mods/CC?
