trouble importing original mass effect 2 save into the legendary edition (PC)

★ Novice

Hi

I am trying to import my old save from the original mass effect 2 into the legendary edition and nothing I am trying is working.

I have tried pasting my entire save folder from mass effect 2 into the legendary edition folder or just the save file I wanted to use and the character has not shown up in the mass effect 2 or 3 load options.

is it possible to import my me2 character? I would rather not have to use the mass effect 3 comic thing to set my choices because it looks like a decent amount of things could have been left out.

@dalton264  Yes, you should be able to import a regular ME2 save to the Legendary Edition of ME3.  I did this myself a while back.  Where did you copy the ME2 save to?  I put mine here:

Documents\BioWare\Mass Effect Legendary Edition\Save\ME2

I copied the entire folder, in this case labeled Jane_21_Infiltrator_100121, and had no trouble other than that my Shepard came out looking very wrong.  (The tool linked in this post helped with that.)  You do need to have finished the game, of course, and your Shepard needs to have survived.  However, I don't have the option to load the save in ME2, only 3.

If the above doesn't help, please post a screenshot of the contents of the folder that contains your save files, as in, the ones that end in .pcsav.

Hi @puzzlezaddict

I figured it out.

So when I initially downloaded the legendary edition there was no "save" folder in documents. However, once I created a new character in the legendary edition the "save" folder was created with a subfolder for that game. So I created a fake mass effect 2 character and I was able to successfully import my actual character and saw it pop up as an option for mass effect 3.

It kinda suck because I started a new mass effect 3 character after I lost hope in a way to import a character. I made it to about the citadel and cured the genophage. I will still probably go back and use my original character just because it was bothering me that the ingame comic left out certain decision that were mentioned a decent bit.
