If you haven't seen the notes for yesterday's patch:

* Fixed an issue on PC where non-standard 
  characters in the operating system’s 
  username would prevent the game from 
  launching
    * Removed the dependency on the AVX 
      instruction set in the launcher

Can confirm that the Launcher now, er, launches on my 2008 Mac Pro (Xeon Esomethingsomething).

Props to EA for (a.) fixing this, and (b.) actually writing that up in the release notes. Also: huge thanks to this community for keeping us playing in the meantime.

Hi,

I'm still having an issue where my game hangs whenever I try to launch. I get a splash screen for the game I'm trying to launch, with a black screen behind it, and then nothing, not even after 10+ minutes.

I've tried using the launcher, launching each game individually, disconnecting peripherals, verifying game files. I don't believe I have any special characters anywhere in any file paths. The latest update did not fix it. 

This is frustrating because I've only been able to launch the game once (the first time I tried) and never since then. I'm just about ready to request a refund at this point.

@HaddockFan I still prefer dvidebyzero custom launcher. It's simpler, and
allows you to run games like original.
It just works.

Hi, I bought Mass Effect Legendary Edition.
I had a problem starting it on my Windows 10 PC. After booting it crashed on desktop.
I finally found out that the problem was Defender, it was blocking my startup.
Here is the remedy:
Windows Settings → Update and Security → Windows Security → Virus and Threat Protection → Virus and Threat Protection Settings → Real-time Protection → Off

I'm just now having the issue. The game was working fine for me till my computer had an update. My driver is up to date and my firewall isn't preventing it. Other games work except for Mass Effect Legendary Edition.
