Same issue, running on Logitech Z5500 via optical direct input from my TV from my PS5.

Same issue, on PS4 Pro with Sony AV Receiver and Teufel 5.1 speakers.

Same here with PS5 and Astro Mixamp Pro. But it is only in ME1. The 2 and 3 are fine.

I'm having the same issue. PS5, 5.1, Denon S650 receiver, HDMI ARC connection.

Same problem here, at least I'm not alone with this. I'm using 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos setup from Samsung. PS5 > sound bar > Philips hue syncbox > Sony Bravia TV. First game to have this problem.

@CarvapercI'd like to add that surround is working, but my problem is mostly with conversations. When you talk with someone, almost all the vocal sounds comes from rear speakers. I did try playing without rear speakers and I did hear all the sounds coming normally out from other speakers. Oh and I use AV amplifier, 7.1 ch, Linear PCM.

There are quite a few posts about this on the mass effect subreddit--

I am playing on PC. While surround sound works in the both ME2 and ME3, surround sound does not work in ME1

Yeah this is an issue for me on PS5. It uses the rear surrounds for dialogue in 5.1/7.1 and with DTS/Dolby/PCM.
It seems to just be a problem with ME1 in specific, ME2 and ME3 sound fine.
