ME1 Barrier doesn't deplete?

When using Barrier your shield bar gets full, turns white, and never changes when taking damage, even if barriers/shields are completely depleted.

Makes it impossible to tell when you are in danger or if you should use shield-recharging abilities(Shield Boost) while Barrier is active.

This is not an issue with squad members.
