"failed to join friends game" when a friend tries to join my game + more issues

So I have no problem connecting to random players' games while searching in quick match and I can (usually) join my friends' games just fine, but not a single one of my friends has been able to connect to me when I host. Roughly 6-8 people have tried to connect to me in private games without any success. One of those people also has had the same issue and I can't connect to him either. People who hit "join game" on my origins account get a "can't join friend's game" error message even if I'm not the host (though they can join the game if they try to join someone else in the lobby). I also have another friend who, whenever I try to join, it just says "joining game" in the center and "communicating" in the corner. 

I hope that I can get this issue resolved soon because there are many times where me and another friend want to play ME3 multiplayer, but we can't because we don't have someone else around who can host for us.

Are you NOT able to view your progress in the N7HQ?  Do you also often get "your connection to game has been lost"?

If so, you have a much broader, and fairly common with new accounts, issue: And there's no solution

If not:

There has also been some long time issues with the peer-to-peer connecting in the game.  The usual solution involves checking your port forwarding, and your NAT status. But doesn't look like it usually solves the issue.  Some links:

Thanks for the detailed reply. I've tried the port forwarding idea and it didn't work (also the problem occurs even when I'm on different routers as well). 

What me and my friends have ended up doing is making a public lobby with very specific settings (like Collectors platinum on a hazard map) and just have all my friends join me real quick searching for those settings.

No problem.   Yeah, I do the same (though even that doesn't work with one friend, but I have the more complex hosting/linking issue I listed first).

Note that you still may get errant lobbymates who chose U/U/Platinum.  But you can always politely kick them.

... or if they show up with a bazillion Challenge Pts, Lone Wolf banner, a Javelin X and level 4 consumables, maybe kick one of your friends instead
