mass effect 3 online pass

I have tried all of the different steps to get my ME 3 online pass to work in the FAQs but on the title screen it still tells me 'an online pass is required to access online features of this title.' I bought my game new and cannot access any multiplayer modes which were supposed to be the whole point of the pass. Am I missing something?

I did what 1ago is suggesting, and it is the only way, since the problem lies on their end.
