So I've been scouring the internet and this was totally never solved. Tried repairing five times, doing the same steps as everyone else and there's multiple threads that have varied success. EA should really think about patching this..

I'm on windows 10, and I clicked run as administrator, and the sound magically worked again. This seems to be the solution.

Nevermind, I switched to fullscreen mode and the sound went away again.

And in borderless windowed or windowed mode it works?

I have seen a lot of complex fixes regarding the HDMI no sound problem to no avail.

Try my fix and see if it works.

Load up Mass Effect 2 and go to extras/options/graphics/window mode and select window (no border)

It worked for me. Let me know if it works for you.

Oh ya, dont forget to run it in Big Shot (administrator) mode too.

Yes thank you, choosing windowed and restarting gave me audio!
