Mass Effect 3, origin does not work in-game, can't invite friends or view do

I'm having the same problem, but I don't get any error messages.  When I press shift-F1, nothing happens at all.  But I think this is what's being referred to:  If you go to the main Origin menu and select "Origin", then "Application Settings", that will take you to a page labeled "Settings" which has 5 tabs down the left side.  The fourth is "Origin In Game".  Select that tab and you'll see the option, "Enable Origin in Game".

However, this doesn't help, at least not in my case anyway.  When I first found this option, it was not even selectable.  After closing and restarting Origin a couple times, it became selectable once.  I then changed it, with no effect.  Then I changed it back.  Again, there was no effect.  And now, it's become unselectable again.

According to the settings on this page, "Origin In Game" is enabled.  But I can't access it.  But I still get the pop-up notices when friends log in and out.

Also, I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Origin.  That was useless, and I'm out of ideas.

Now it's nearly August 2015 and still EA has done nothing to try to remedy this, not even by gracing this thread with an answer.

You should be embarrassed EA, you're an embarrassment to the gaming world and it's quite frankly amazing that you get away with scamming so many people.

Sort your * lame Origin * you have forced us to use.

Same problem here. Currently i have only two of origin games installed sim city and mass effect 3, sim city has overlay working but mass effect doesn't.

Same problem here.  Reinstalled both Origin and Mass Effect 3, but the in-game overlay still does not work, making it impossible to invite friends to a multiplayer lobby.

Same problem, I couldn't invite friends from my lobby, seems after the last Origin update 7/25/2015  is when I started getting this screen that tells me I most "Enable Origin in Game" on the Origin (EA) client;s Settings page to use this feature.

I did an online chat with a EA tech person who could only offer me a suggestion, uninstall Origin, clean my computer

with a cleaner and then reinstall Origin.

Same here and for my friends. Trying to invite from within the game gives a "you must have origin in game activated" message. And of course we all have that, since ME 3 came out..

We work around it by tabbing to windows and join game in the friends list from there. Easier if you run the game windowed. But it is only a workaround, please fix it.

Same here guys.
I've reinstalled Origin.
Reinstalled Game.
After every uninstall I've scanned and cleared my computer files (incl. registry) with newest version of CCleaner.
I got the newest updates with Windows. All updates are up-to-date.

This problem DEFINITELY and absolutely 100% FOR SURE occur after new Origin update 9.7.2.

In fact, when you go to www.origin.com/en-us/release-notes page,  it's still shows Version 9.6.1 as Most Recent. Srlsy EA? WTF?

Dear EA. Stop finally being completly douchebags and pi$$ on your customers/users and for once, react and instead of counting $$$ - DO SOMETHING!

Yes. We ARE frustrated. We are the 'bunch' of pepole that accually make you - Dear EA SIUTES - earn the money. So if you wan't more - react. It's hard to earn money when stuff doesn't work and people are getting angry because of your incompetence whicht leads to this kind of technical problems  - isn't it?

To Admins: This frustration, it NOT against you. You guys, you're doing job as best as you can, and I know this isn't your fault. Simply try to understand other people, and if' its up to you, please, motivate some techstuff, and push the problem up on their faces. Make them rly do something instead of giving advices like "Restart Origin", "Reinstall Origin/Game/Windows" .

Well, it's now late July 30th and this still isn't fixed. I have been online with Origin help for an hour yet again tonight - that's every night for a fortnight..........

I too have done all the 'troubleshooting steps' - tedious uninstalling, re-installing, ports, admin accounts...blah blah blah.

I thought, that maybe to lighten the frustration, we'd like a list of the excuses I have been given so far:

1. Yes, we are aware of it, it'll be fixed in the next update

2. I don't know what you are talking about

3. We are aware of it and EA is working very hard to resolve the issue

4. I don't know what you are talking about, there is no issue

5. What troubleshooting steps have you taken to fix your issue

6. Can you come back later - I don't know what you are talking about - about 3 hours from now there should be someone who can help

7. I am escalating this to the specialist team

8. There is no issue that we know of

9. I now send them the link to this post of 3 pages of global complaints...............

Having the same irritating problem! Can't open Origin in-game (no matter what i set as keyboard button/s) and obv cannot invite friends! DAMN IT!
