Audio crackling

★★★ Novice

Hi,

I have just started playing ME3 and am finding the sound crackles. I can still hear what is being said etc, but there is a constant crackling. I am playing with headphones. Never had this problem before - I've just finished ME2 and that was fine, and have played numerous other games without issue. Any help greatly appreciated.

Re: Audio crackling

DxDiag post so we can see the hardware of your system, but honestly I haven't heard of this problem in a long while.  I think the last time I did, it was a plug that had come out just a tad and wasn't getting a good connection.  If it isn't a physical issue with your headphones or Jack then drivers, game/program interference or possibly a audio setting such as surround vs headphones either in game or in your system settings.

Unfortunately that hasn't helped at all - it's crackling to the point it's really interfering with the game 😔

Re: Audio crackling

What happens if you change headphones??  What happens if you go back to ME2 for a bit??  What happens if you change over to speaker output??

In game what sound settings have you tried??  Triple check to make sure Nvidia sound hasn't been ticked anywhere, and also make sure your video graphics hardware is defaulting to the Nvidia hardware and Intel GPU isn't being used.  Yeah, Yeah, I know it is a sound issue, but I have seen weird instances where sound and graphics mixed to cause odd things...one of which is static as things go funky....

In addition to @mcsupersport, try to repair the game. (in Origin > Game Library > right click ME3 > Repair)

Re: Audio crackling

Thank you for all the suggestions. I had already tried repairing the game and using different/no headphones. With speakers rather than headphones is the most playable, but because the sound overall isn't as good as when using headphones and so the crackling and breaking up is slightly less obvious, although still bad.

"In game what sound settings have you tried??  Triple check to make sure Nvidia sound hasn't been ticked anywhere, and also make sure your video graphics hardware is defaulting to the Nvidia hardware and Intel GPU isn't being used." How can I do this?
