Hi all,
I was hoping I could get some help with an error message I get after the title screen. There is a communication issue with the Mass Effect 2 server. If I press ok, the game crashes. I am currently running it through Steam and using Windows 7.
I'm hoping this is an issue and not EA finally killing the game off. Any help appreciated. Thanks

Please create a DxDiag in text file format and post it with your next reply.
Because you use Windows 7 also go to your Reliability monitor > Press the Windows key and "R" at the same time and copy and paste or type "perfmon /rel" (without the quotes) in the new Window > hit “ENTER” and look if it has entries for the "MassEffect2.exe".
If yes double click at the last entry for the game executable, copy the info to the clipboard, and save it to a text file.
You can attach the DxDiag text file you created (and the “Reliability monitor” text file as well) to your post in the “Reply” window with the “Choose File” button.

The Reliability Monitor error message is not very helpful, no parameters.
But your GPU driver is almost 4 years old, I would recommand to update it to the newest version.
Should be a 280x you have, if not search for the right driver. Reboot after installation.
Also repair the game:
In Steam > right click at ME2 > Properties > Local Files > Verify integrity of game cache.
For the login issue:
Are you in a public, for example university network?
Do you use special characters in your E-Mail or username?

Hi,
I've done everything suggested but it still doesn't seem to work. My email doesn't contain any strange characters and I'm on my home network.
Thanks,
Alex

I am sorry, this topic somehow slipped through my notifications.
Do you still have this Problem?

Unfortunately, yes

OK, if you don't connect to the server, is the game staring normally?
Did you tried other things, and if yes what did you tried to solve this? (To not reaped stuff you already did.)
Are the DLCs unlooked already?

I can't start the game without connecting to the server. When I get to the main menu, it automatically takes me to the Server Error message. As for the DLC's, everything has been legitimately bought and I have all the DLC's available. I haven't tried any other methods of fixing the game

Yes, but are they already activated? I ask because if so, there is no reason to connect to the Server anymore.
