Sent back to start of mission after dying

Hello, I've been playing Mass Effect 2 on the 360 for a few hours and am on Korlus - Blue Suns Facility. If I die I get sent back to the Galaxy Map on the Normandy, even though I press 'resume'. However on previous missions if I died and then I pressed resume I respawned at the point at which I died? At the moment I have to restart the whole mission if I die; does anyone know if there is a way around this? Please help if you can as this is driving me nuts. Many thanks for any advice.

You can get around it by saving the game. 'Resume' takes you back to your previous save file.
