Go to your ME2 "Save" folder (under "Documents\BioWare\Mass Effect 2\" create a folder with the name "ME1". (without the quotes) inside the "Save" folder
Then copy (not relocate) your ME1 save games into that folder. > Now ME2 should "see" your ME1 character.

The ME2 "Save" folder should be at "C:\Users\>your user name<\Documents\BioWare\Mass Effect 2" (Full path: "C:\Users\>your user name<\Documents\BioWare\Mass Effect 2"\Save")
If you changed your standard Windows Document folder you still should find the "Save" folder under "X:\Documents\BioWare\Mass Effect 2" X = the drive letter of the hard drive you relocated the standard Windows Documents folder too.
If you still can't find the Save folder, search your PC for "*.pcsav" files, (without the quotes) and look for the pcsav files who are in a Mass Effect 2 folder. (ME3 is using the same file extension)
Open the folder, click at "Save" in your Windows Explorer Address bar and create the "ME1" folder there.
Well...this oldie was helpful.
Should be a sticky. I was lucky to find it on Google.
Seems like all three of my Mass Effect games went to hell this week.
I've been repairing * all week.
Howwwwwww? I've read and tried everything. Can someone just spell everything out, and not just "Oh, I got it to work." Very infuriating.
I've done this before and it worked, but for some reason now it won't. I've imported 4 characters successfully but I cannot import my newest. I also tried the copy and paste method, but it also does not work. Any suggestions?
