Origin+Steam Link (major ME 2 issue)

I have been playing Origin copies of Mass Effect 1 and now 2 added as non-Steam games on Steam Link with the controller mods on my television.  An Xbox One controller is connected to my Steam Link.  I have had no problems playing this way until tonight.  My wife and I sat down expecting another 2-3 hour session of a wonderful video game, yet tonight the game no longer recognizes any controller input.

I can press the guide button to bring up the Steam Big Picture overlay, where all my button inputs are recognized, but when I pop back over to the game, nothing happens.  Can't get past the "PRESS START" screen.  The only thing that changed (as far as I know) was updating Razer Synapse.  I've troubleshot everything I can think of and am at a dead end.

Please help so my wife and I can continue playing this awesome game

Update:  Switching to Steam beta client resolved my issue.

Was Origin or Mass Effect 2 updated on 3/16 or 3/17?
