Need Info from players. (ME2 crashing/not starting after importing ME1 save)

Community Manager (retired)

I've come across several threads of people saying that after importing their ME1 save into ME2, ME2 is not starting or automatically crashes. I'm trying to gather some information on this issue.

The following is the information I need.

Is ME1 and 2 from Trilogy?

What system are you playing on?

(If PC) What OS are you using?

Hi there

I'm on PS3. I've played ME2 (Region 1 disc version) then played ME3 (Region 2 disc version) and was able to import my ME2 character.

A few days ago I bought ME1 on the PSN Store (Region 2 PSN store - Portugal, to be more accurate), went through it all but now I can't import that character. When I boot up ME2's disc, even with patch 1.04, it doesn't show any character to be imported.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the patch and DLC content but to no avail. I was so hyped up to replay the whole trilogy with my Shepard and now I can't.

Is anyone having a similar issue on the PS3?

Hello,

I am having the same problem a lot of players are having. My ME2 won't even start the first time, though. I'm thinking the game tries to import the ME1 savegames on its own. The problem seems to come from the ME Trilogy, seeing as the threads popped up after its release. More specifically, i suspect it has something to do with the Origin digital distribution system and its cloud/automatically updating policy.

I don't think it's a hardware issue, seeing as Mass Effect 1 played flawlessly.

Playing on windows 7 64-bit.

i added some of the dxdiag.txt message if you need any further information.

Hello,

Edit: Good that there is finally someone working on this issue: Good Luck!

yes, it is the trilogy edition, i'm playing it on win8

mass effect 2 started up before importing the save files, but when the MassEffect2Config.exe is used to import the savegame, mass effect 2 doesn't even start up.

when done manually, it imports fine and the game starts, i think i'm already halfway through the game

Running ME trilogy on PS3.

I do have ME2 and ME3 separately, but I bought the trilogy as well. My ME playthrough was okay, even got to do a second playthrough. Imported to ME2 with no problems. But I have been experiencing crashes yesterday:

1. I've checked the forums about the Overlord Crash Bugs, which when you include Legion in the team your system will crash. I had Tali/Jack or Tali/Grunt on the missions. PS3 crashes once I step into the dish array. Tried to get Garrus/Grunt into, went as far as inside the dish and then my PS3 crashes. So, I decided to avoid Overload at the moment.

2. Started a 2nd playthrough with my ME1 import. Brought Zaeed/Miranda to recruit Mordin. PS3 system crashed once exiting the clinic.

So far, those are what I'm experiencing and my excitement for importing an ME1 shepard to ME3 has decreased everytime my game crashes. :P

IMHO this is not (solely) a problem of the import, but of the config editor. As soon as you start this program and save your parameters (even changing from fullscreen to windowed mode is enough), ME2 wont start anymore and the only fix is reinstalling the game.

I had this issue twice now. The game was running fine after install, but then i started the config editor and ME2 wont start afterwards. So im now downloading this game the third(!) time, because Origin hasnt saved the installer (despite the option that it should)

Fix this!

I have the Trilogy Edition as Download from Origin.

My System is a Intel Core2 Quad Q9550 with a GeForce GTX 670 on an ASUS P5Q Motherboard (but this error isnt hardware specific).

Running Windows 7 64-bit.

Triology edition

Windows 8

However, I did import ME1 character and the game worked up until near the end, now out of the ether I get the same issue listed above. Syncing cloud, then no ME2 start. So my issue is slightly different.

ME1 still runs, even after fiddling with compatibility settings.

Thanks!
