I play on PC. Windows 8, Intel i3-3320/ Intel HD graphics, 6G RAM
Sometimes I can use a heavy pistol and it's OK, but I have to fire really slow and my game will eventually crash. Never any problems with NPC shooting causing crashes. It gets worse the farther I get into the game. I've tried turning graphics settings all the way down, it doesn't help at all. I've tried frequent game shutdowns and defrags, that doesn't work either. I have no problems playing ME or ME3. Any ideas? Thanks.

Try to change the in game graphic settings. (Shadows, bloom, Windowed mode resolution and so on)

Maybe there's a graphics effect that causes the crash. Intel HD graphics are below the system requirements, so it can behave in very unpredictable ways.
You could try repairing the game. In Origin you can do this by right clicking the game and selecting the 'repair game' option. On Steam this is called 'verify integrity of game files'.

I didin't realize that my graphics card is not supported.
I also have the same problem with my other computer, Windows 10, AMD A-8 5500.
I've already repaired the game (Origin), sorry I didn't mention that. Thanks.

@holger1405 Sorry for taking so long, stuff IRL. I had tried everything you mentioned, except Windowed mode. I ran it in borderless Window and it all seems great, thanks I haven't hit the worst maps for this yet, but is working right now.
