Cerberus Network Password doesn't recognize special characters.

I can't log into the Cerberus Network in Mass Effect 2.  The input doesn't recognize special character like !@#$%^&*.  Is ther enay way around this or do I have to change my super secure password into some lame normal * letter and numbers only BS?
