It's been years since this game came out, but I just got around to ME2.
I tried to import my saves from ME to ME2 both through the configuration tool and manually, only to find that ME2 says it can't find my imported saves. When I checked my save folder, I couldn't find the final save that people said starts with "CHAR". I could only find one file called "Profile.MassEffectProfile". Note that I have, in fact, finished the game multiple times, even tried running it as administrator, and nothing worked.
I'm running it on Windows 10. Also, when I first started playing the game, I changed the save path to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Mass Effect\Save" because the original wasn't working (I suspect because My Documents was connected to OneDrive, which I have now disconnected, so My Documents does work, but if I tried to change the path back now, I would lose all progress).
Oh, and I do have the ability to run a new game+ on ME, which means it definitely should have saved a completed game.
Any tips, pretty please?

Sorry for asking, but to make sure, you activated the search in the Documents function by clicking on the "Sheet" atop of the search window?
You save games work normal in ME1.

If you say, " When I checked my save folder, I couldn't find the final save that people said starts with "CHAR", you mean you cheeked the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Mass Effect\Save" folder, right?
Did you checked your "Onedrive" folder?
How many Save games are in the above folder?

Yep, I checked both. Each has only one file, the aforementioned one, though I'm not sure how.

Search your PC for files with the *.MassEffectSave file extension.

Tried that before and tried it again now. Couldn't find anything.

Oh, I found them! They were in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Mass Effect\Binaries\ogram Files (x86)eameamappsÀmmon" I have no idea how they got there, or what that even is.
Do you suggest copying the end save to my save folder then importing it to ME2 from there, or just directing ME2 straight to its current location?
Thank you so much! I hope I don't run into any other problems.

That folder was most likely automatically created as you changed the standard save location of ME1.
Your ME2 "Save" folder should be under "Documents\BioWare\Mass Effect 2".
If so create a folder named "ME1" (without the quotes) inside the ME2 "Save" folder and copy your ME1 save games there.
Then ME2 should "see" them.
