Mass Effect would crash on startup "General Protection Fault" [ Edited ]

I'm at my wit's end. Ever since I built my new system, I'm unable to launch Mass Effect at all. I'm not interested in the Legendary edition, I just want my og Mass effect to work. Every time I launch the title, I get the error message in the screen cap. I've attached the dxdiag file. I've tried all the solutions posted on this forum, and I don't know what to do.

The game is installed through EA desktop app (no Origin or Steam)

Did you tried try to repair the game.

(Origin > Game Library > right click ME > Repair)
(Steam > Game Library > right click at ME > Properties > Local Files > Verify integrity of game files.)

If that don't works:

• Turn off "Cloud storage" in Origin.
  (Origin menu > Origin > Application Settings > Install & Saves > Cloud storage > Off (Grey)
• If you use Steam you don't have to do anything, unless you have added Mass Effect manually to Streams cloud save function.
• Make sure Origin or Steam are closed.
• Go to your "Documents\BioWare\Mass Effect" folder and move the "Save" folder and the "Config" folder to your desktop. > Test.

For the "MassEffectConfig.exe" crashes, the MassEffectConfig.exe just don't like CPUs with that many cores.

Here is a Workaround for that issue.

For the game crashes, do you use any mods?

I intended to, but no mods yet. The game hasn't worked ever since I installed it on this system. Regarding the "MassEffectConfig.exe", it used to work on my previous CPU which was a six-core one. Are 8 cores too many for it?

I'm going to try with the cores and report.

The core affinity/single core solution didn't work. I'm pretty much out of ideas and don't know what can work here.

@holger1405 Doesn't seem like these features are there in EA Desktop (don't have Origin). Do I have to install Origin?

Yes, this feature is not yet implanted in EA Desktop.

If you don't have the game on an Xbox Gamepass (I don't think it's available there at the moment), which would force you to use Origin, I'd give it a try.

@holger1405 So, the repair didn't work, but the save file solution did work! Thank you so much. Now, I'd mark that as the solution, but I'd like to understand what exactly happened here?

Either one of your save files, the profile file or one of the config files got corrupted/wrongly edited.

It was a broader approach, that's why I can't tell you what it was exactly, but you can test if you move the folders separately back into the original folders.

Seeing the Error message it is more likely that a config file is the culprit.
