Mass Effect not Launching

The original Mass Effect simply refuses to launch. Being as I bought the trilogy, i'm pretty annoyed about this and want to play through the entire series. Help?

@Vientros How does the failure manifest? Do you see any error messages? Have you been able to play on that machine in the past?

@EA_David I click "Play" to start the game, and it seems to be starting, but nothing shows up. Not even an error message. Yes, this machine is an Alienware X51, if that helps, and it runs every other game on origin that i've tried, including Mass Effect 2 & 3.

Thanks. Is there a matching crash report in the reliability monitor?

Does restarting with a clean boot help at all?
