Mass Efect 1 does not start

Win7 64bit. 

Mass efect 1 just downloaded and installed from Origin without any problems.

When I start the game, the process is starting (I can see it in task manager), then it's closing by itself.

I had the same trouble.

I eventually figured something out.

Go to Local Disk > program files> Origin games> Mass effect > Binaries 

you will then see the chrome M,  right click on that and choose properties, then compatibility and check the button that says " run this program in compatibility mode for" then choose Windows Xp service pack 3 then click the button that says run in administration mode.
