Joel Bitonio 90 OG Gold vs Elite card

Just wondering why are there two variants of the same player and level in the game, is this an error on EA side? And does the GOLD variant be used on the MVP playoff set? We all know that you need an elite card but among all other cards this one is kinda intriguing. I hope someone from EA enlighten us.

Had a chance to get hold off JB 90 Gold Card and has expected it cannot be used on the PO MVP set, how stubborn am I! :D
