Best Macbook for the sims

Hey guys,

(IM UK BASED 🇬🇧)

I am looking at getting a Macbook for uni but I am wondering what is also best to run The Sims 4?

I only play the Sims 4 but also want a Macbook that will be substantial for the new (awaited 🙄) release of the Sims 5 or whatever that will be… lol along with university work/assignments etc.

Is a Macbook Air or Pro better?

Whats the difference with M2 and M3?

Do you get more RAM on Macbook Pro compared to the Air?

Would it also matter if I got an 8GB RAM on a Macbook Pro or would it need to be more? I understand it goes by ‘unified memory’ now instead of ‘RAM’. 

Sorry for the questions.. 😖 I just want some help and advice if I am going to spend the money!!

Each year Apple release new and improved ARM chips, the brains of the computer, and these chips have so far been numbered sequentially. M3 is the current chip in the MacBook range with the M4 upgrade being released imminently (probably, it is already available in the iPad Pro).

An easy way to answer your questions is for you to bring up a page on the MacBook Air and one on the MacBook Pro and compare on Apple's website.

Personally I only ever go with MacBook Pros as my main machines but do own an M1 MacBook Air which is superb for portability.

RAM is not the only thing you should be looking at, unless you think you need a lot depending on how you use your Mac?

What's your budget?
