I thought I time travelled back to august and the iron crown event was just announced. Had to do a double take because it looks like we’re being scamazzed again people.
’we listen to the community and their concerns’, like hell you do. All you care about is $$$ 🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑
Every single decision you make just shows how much greed you have as developers. No care for customers and their opinions or we wouldnt be going through this only 2 months after the last ordeal.
’oh we made it so you can buy skins directly, surely that excuses the fact that you still have to pay $200 if you want to get everything’ NO it doesnt excuse F’ all. The pricing is too high in this game to be anything other than robbery. Every good decision made ‘for the players’ is met with several bad decisions against them so we all end up screwed in the a$$.
+ you can now buy skins directly with apex coins from the start 😱
- but the skins are still extremely overpriced for what they are
+ you can now craft event skins with crafting metals
- ‘unfortunately we decided 1200 crafting metals wasnt enough of a grind so we doubled the cost for no reason other than greed and to make it as hard as possible for out players to enjoy our game’
- apex packs still cost 700, which is disgustingly priced. No reason why they cant be 300-400. That would still be 7200-9600 apex coins which is a shot load of money.
- ‘we heard your concerns about only being able to earn 2 of our event apex packs last time, so we thought we would just remove the possibility to earn them for free. That way no one can moan about only having the ability to earn 2 🤗’
- you can now earn the lifeline heirloom set for free*
*for free, after youve spent $200 to earn all the other cosmetics.*
I love how this is spun to make it look like its doing the community a favour. ‘Now when you’ve spent $200 you dont have to spend another $40 to get everything 👍 we’re so good at our jobs’
This game is honestly becoming a joke an after the terrible season 3 i dont see many people eager to keep playing. Good job at killing your game with every patch guys 👌
and for those people who whine ‘its only cosmetic, it doesnt effect gameplay so charging $200 is fine’
Keep it in your pants, im not interested in your nonchalant approach to how badly developers like respawn treat their playerbase. Fact is a game like this revolves around cosmetics because there is nothing else to latch onto. There is no campaign or anything else to keep you entertained, its just cosmetics that keep the game fresh and updated. So maybe it is ‘only cosmetics’ but for a game that revolves around cosmetics thats like locking chapters behind $200 paywalls in a single player game.

They basically stated that there would still be wallet emptying events(obviously phrased a bit more glibly) but they would ensure that not every event ran like this.
Its not a scam...as that would insinuate you were cheated in some way. If you don't wanna pay then don't it's simple as that. Lets not respark the iron crown levels of whining please?

No, this needs to go big again like the iron crown riots or nothing will change. Having another of these cash grab events less than 2 months after the last one is disgusting and proves the developers have no care for their players and are just in it for the money. Theres no passion to make the game better or we wouldnt be in this position again.
And for people who say ‘its free to play, they need to make money somehow’ do you actually think they are living paycheck to paycheck? No. They have enough bank to develop the game for years especially with how much money they get from apex pack sales, battle passes and direct skin purchases like the iron crown event. Stop being naive and thinking they are poor developers who need money and everything they do is for the players.
They need to go back to the drawing board with these events and come up with something different because this isnt going to work. Even the whales will start to get annoyed about shilling $200 every couple months for skins that will be obsolete in 2 months time because the next event has started, thus has brought new skins to replace the old ones they just bought for $200.

@AnlbrdTheres a fine line between it being a business and theft. Respawn crossed that line by making $200 events every 2 months. At this rate that is $1200 a year on pixels. As i said, disgusting.
Doesnt help that the devs come out and insult their players then expect them to pay $100 a month on their game. Also doesnt help that they say they’re ‘listening to the community’ and ‘making it right for the players’ when in reality that is just a lie. If youre gonna be greedy devs I say at least be honest like Daddy EA is. Then we can all move on.

How do you guys justify not giving your dedicated player base any sort of reward that they actually want?
How do you guys justify not being able to unlock the event legendaries besides directly purchasing those items? Especially considering you raised the prices and amount of crafting materials needed to get them?
How do you guys justify saying that the Lifeline's heirloom is FREE FREE FREE, when it is NOT FREE at all?
How is it possible to not earn any of the actual COOL event items by not simply playing the game a lot?
How many streamers will be decked out in Fright gear leading up to event, coercing people to buy buy buy?

Are you requesting events to have more items available for free or is it the pricing of the event that you're more concerned about? I want to get a clear picture on what direction you're requesting the team to go in. We appreciate feedback on events and hope everyone is as excited for the new nighttime map of Kings Canyon in the Shadowfall mode as well as the various ways to unlock new cosmetics, only thing we ask is everyone to be civil among each other as everyone sees value differently. No need to attack each other on different perspectives.
We'll do our part in forwarding discussions like this to the team.

Both, both are the issue. They aren’t separate issues, they directly correlate to each another. Having everything cost so much and no way to earn any of it for free is literally the maximum way you can squeeze money out of your players, something you as developers quoted you would never do. The 2 factors directly interact with each other. The price wouldnt be that big of an issue if you could earn a decent amount for just playing the game. Vice versa if everything was much cheaper people wouldnt mind that you couldnt get much for free. Its because both exist at the same time that its an issue.
Read any of the forum feedback or twitter comments or reddit posts, they all say similar things. ‘I would happily spend money on this game if everything wasnt so expensive’ You are literally turning away players who would happily pay $50-80 every season, because the whole event is overpriced and it turns them off wanting to support you guys.
The simplest way to fix the issue is provide ways to earn a certain amount of these limited time packs through actually playing the game via challenges. This will in turn reduce the overall cost of the event and make people more likely to support your game since it wont cost them $200 to participate. I’d happily spend $80 every season on this game for these events, as would many others. As it is at the moment you are getting exactly $0 from me and majority of your players because im not willing to support a company that thinks $200 of cosmetics is fair.
Make it so players can earn say 12 of these packs through challenges. Then players have the option to buy the other 12 with real money. Gives people a reason to want to play your game during an event as the have the ability to earn some of the content, which should be the primary purpose of the event. NOT to get as much money as possible. Then if someone doesnt get the skin they wanted through their 12 free packs they have the ability to directly purchase that specific skin they want from the store.
Also do something with legend tokens, people are hoarding them because theres nothing to spend them on. Either Allow for the ability to purchase things directly with legend tokens or something i think is better is to allow the player to trade ‘x’ legend tokens for ‘y’ apex coins. This would also would help solve the progression issue that people have that once you hit max level theres nothing to play for anymore. If you could trade 3000 legend tokens = 100 apex coins. Every 5 level ups a player would earn enough legend tokens to get an apex pack, which i think is a completely fair and balanced system.
I love this game, the only BR that i actually enjoy and it pains me to see stupid management decisions costing the reputation not only of the game but of you as developers. Hope you actually listen to some of this feedback, because i havent just sat here for half an hour to have my words fall on deaf ears.
