From my perspective, Apex Legends is more and more about rubbing my nose in to what I WON'T get. I wonder, whether I – as a casual low-skilled player – will have a space reserved (by design) in Apex, in the future.
Used to getting run over
Since the days of Quake Arena and Unreal Tournament, I am used to getting run over by almost everybody else on the field. Years later, with my first ranked action in Overwatch, I got the relating numbers confirmed, too: rank number 1500, bronze/silver, meaning 90% of all players are better than me. And that's what it felt like, all the time.
Accepted. I am slow, got no nerves for aiming and keep utilizing questionable positioning. I am in there for the action, enjoy the excitement and the view, dig team play, never quit, stay friendly and try to keep sports-minded about failing in 90% of all encounters (in Apex).
Generally, not into spending a lot of money for cosmetics
Yep, this is not the game's fault. Just the first spot, where I see nice things in Apex I will never have. I have to deal with that.
Season 1 too hard to finish
Thus, I welcomed Season 1 as an opportunity both, to have a good way to finally pay and thus support the game AND to get some special cosmetics. But, I found that the rewards on the line were not THAT cool and also, after I gave everything I could in those weeks, I just reached lvl 52. Not (at all) near the really cool stuff in there. Looks like those cool weapon skins are not meant for me, either. I have to deal with that.
Ranked is not ranked
Now, when ranked arrived, I thought I will eventually find myself matched with players around my skill level. But, as EVERYBODY's ladder leads through Bronze and Silver upstairs, I am still matched with and against players totally out of my league. A pity, ranked in Apex does not offer me my space of (sort of) balanced matches (in Silver IV atm). I have to deal with that.
Skipped on Season 2
A bit low-spirited (after Ranked and S1 experience) I skipped on Season 2. Am lvl 9 there. Ofc, my own decision, but again those rewards there will be lost for me. I have to deal with that.
Iron Crown rewards based on paying money
In the last weeks, I have lost track in Apex. Discussions about refunds and stuff concerning Iron Crown event woke me up. As far as I see it, rewards are for the good players or/and those willing to spend money. Also, I am not very fond of playing solo. Thus, again, those very cool rewards are not meant for me. I have to deal with that.
I wonder ...
... whether the designers think of players like me (and their place in the game). I guess, it's too much to ask for special rewards for people constantly beaten in low level ranks. Like, your not good in the game, you're not doing many levels in a season, but thanks for staying and trying in a 1000 games and more, here you have your Persistence and Loyalty reward.
Right, this is a shooter, not a care package. But, besides the prime advice "Git gud", which basically says, we don't care about (players like) you, can't I hope for a little less deal with that in this very, very cool game? And a little more for we love you, too?
Standing ready for Season 3.

@PretzelnutcakeNahhh we’re all civilized here 😇 no one will say git gud who’s been a longtimer here... cause then they’ll know they’ll get that good notification through mail with the preview ‘You have received a private message’ and when you see that you know it’s a mod :P and almost never is it good
@Tamyndrishave you tried playing non shooters? You listed 3 fast paced shooters already and state you’ve got no nerves for aiming or else I’d say try less fast paced shooting. Try to play some sport or race games. If you just want to shoot, play single players. If you want to play online (for whatever reason) play with friends cause if you’re really that bad, you’re burdening your teammates and putting them in a less desired position from the get go. Friends of you will likely be more forgiving.
Good luck & hope you get better...

I hate to say it brotha but hes right. This is EA... they dont do that linda stuff and probably never will. Theyre a massive greedy money hungry machine and itll probably never change, which is seriously sad bc this company has ALOT of talent. If this was any other gaming company id say there would be hope bc things like youre asking do happen... but i really dont see EA doing it. Hell, they tried and did up charge us 700% for the event loot boxes and probably wouldnt of considered giving us the option to buy select items if everyone didnt just stop paying for them..... but regardless were still up charged bc skins in apex cost 18$ which is double of any other game ive ever played..... basically what im saying is, dont count on it. If youre not happy here bro, just leave and keep checking in to see if things change more to youre liking. I do it ll the time and am about to with apex.... saves tou the disappointment forsure

Greedy and money hungry must lead to EA binding (connecting to) their casual and lower level players, too.
Right?
Thanks for your input and kind advice.

I would love it if they had a skill based matchmaking system, I loved COD Advanced Warfare for this reason, but I am reserved to that fact that this and all developers will cater to streamers and influencers over the casual crowd. If we are not there for them to stomp on they don't look good and might lose subscribers... *gasp!* ...and in turn they will bad mouth the game on how horrible it is and stop playing it so their following won't buy it.
They really need a system that can analyze the skill and put you in the appropriate game rather than having an area for lower skilled people to go to because if it can be determined that is where the easy fish swim, then you are going to get smacked around anyway.
Unfortunately it doesn't matter if they did do this, someone will figure out an exploit to get to us anyway.
I say stick with it and just have fun. Work on the little things until you improve and then move onto others. (ie. just work on aim for awhile. Relax and don't spray and pray. You will be surprised if you focus on relaxing and pay attention to where you put the reticle on how you will improve over time.)

Not playing shooters?? Nahhh. You see, I love to be in the middle of it. Game-wise. For that, there is no better place than doing PvP online. And, being in my own little Single Player world there, like in Wolfenstein, DOOM or stuff doesn't do the trick anymore. It's not exciting enough.
Usually, in a game there are or have been (former times) mixed skill levels in players and all was fine. Be it Battlefield or Battlefront, I did my thing, died, respawned and did my thing again. I placed amoungst others in the lower half of the kill chart, somebody had to be there, and we all went on. The difference to Apex is/was, that the rewarding system in those games (if there was any) was not connected to your skill level. Much. THAT's the feat I need to pull off here at Apex, to ignore all the good stuff passing by, which I can't get (without paying extra money).
I know my place, skill-wise. That's why I prefer mechanisms in a game, that take different skill levels in account. Like what a Ranked sytem usually does. Like in Overwatch, where I am completely fine with everything. THERE I have my 50/50 win rate, sort of. And nobody would need to think of me as a burden in a team, neither. (no, I don't go back there atm, because Apex is way cooler ^^)
You asked for the reason I'd come online. It's to play with other and different people. From all over the world. That's the point behind Massively Multiple Online Games in my eyes. Also, I love the chaotic and ramdom element there. You never know with whom or against whom you are matched. I don't regard it as my fault as a player, if the game thus architects teams, wherein half of the people are frustrated with what they got. In fact, I find the more seasoned players accept and respect that element in their matches as well and might even see a quality there. "Come on, you Noobs, let's do this!"
Thanks for your friendliy response. I am getting better with the game. But I will stay casual and slow, all in all. And rewards will stay out of reach for me.

Not yet : P

@Tamyndris... so I'll beat them to it and tell you the same but in a less toxic way.
Thanks for that : )

@Tamyndris ... you're not having much success with the game you need to take a step back and look at your playstyle and try to find and fix any faults in it. Maybe you're overextending, maybe you aren't checking corners, maybe you aren't reloading often enough, or like me maybe you find it difficult to look up (long story). But try to think of what might be causing you trouble and do the opposite.
Also go through your settings while in the training range and adjust sensitivity and such to whatever you're comfortable with. Another important yet often overlooked thing when playing demanding games like this is your gaming area, things like background noise and light reflecting off the screen can make your experience worse so play in a quiet spot with adequate lighting it possible.
The missing success is not the issue. Not so much. The not reaching the cool rewards is, like the ones at the end of the Season levels. Does it have to be like this? Is that the best approach (from the designers)(to keep me with the game)? Am I a wanted customer/player or not? ... do the makers think of all their players or are they solely driven by the needs of the better half of their players? ...
p.s.: Oh boy am I overextending. This is what I should pin on my screen: Stay calm! Think, for Christ's sake! UTFC (Use the f***ing cover!) ... naturally, I work on my playstyle, within my abilities, watch others, look up guides, learn from situations, get my settings right. ... still, old dogs have their limits

@Tamyndris... nor do i know any fps game that matches unskilled with unskilled ...
Well, Overwatch does that with their ranked system. Bronze players are matched with Bronze, no Diamond players running through there. Diamond is matched with Diamond;, no Bronze running around. You leave your rank by winning or losing enough games.
@GucciiWallet wrote:
@Tamyndris... you become better by playing against good players
True. And I do that, happily throwing myself against better skills. To see and learn. (the better players are the ones being more often frustrated, by their not so skilled mates in the team, btw).
The issue is not my k/d ratio. But the rewards in Apex not (much) accessable by my casual low-skilled playing style. "Rightly so!" or "We want ALL of our players to be happy with the rewards", that's the question.
