There have been many questions directed to Community Managers and Apex Legends Developers asking about Cross-Play. Since there are quite a few topics on AHQ about Cross-Play, I thought I'd explain everything us players know about.
First of all, Cross-Play is NOT confirmed by Respawn or EA. I would recommend not believing internet rumours that Cross-Play is certainly on the way.
Yes, Respawn and EA are definitely aware that we all want this feature in Apex Legends.
The most likely reason Apex Legends was not designed with Cross-Play in mind is because Sony only allowed Cross-Play on PS4 for all developers including EA around the time Season 3 launched. You might be thinking that is a long time and that it should be ready by now but Respawn have said time and time again that this feature is very huge and will take a lot of work, especially since the team is not very big and this is also affected by the current worldwide pandemic.
EA Community Managers on AHQ currently have no information to give on Cross-Play in Apex Legends.
Lastly, Respawn DO want to add Cross-Play to their game, as they have stated in many interviews. However they have not confirmed that it is on their list of updates and patches.
